Mt Vernon
This church was formed in about 1864 and named Criss Church in honor of the land giver, Henry Criss. The original church consisted of a log building approximately 30' x 40' in size. In 1876 the current structure of the church was completed. It is thought the Criss Church changed it's name to Mt Vernon around 1910. A major remodeling of the church was done during the 1956-58 period. Four Sunday school rooms, and an additional basement room was competed during the June 1961 - June 1963 period. The fellowship hall was added in approx 1990.
